History and Purpose of the Club

The Weimaraner Club of Greater Louisville was established on April 28th, 1974 by a small group of owners dedicated to one of the most beautiful, intelligent, and versatile dog breeds.

The primary purpose of the Club is to protect and advance the Weimaraner breed.

Membership to the Club is open to all who share this desire and abide by this Club’s and the Weimaraner Club of America’s Constitutions and By-Laws.

The Weimaraner Club of Greater Louisville is proud to have continuously sponsored an annual confirmation specialty show with sweepstakes since 1974 held each March concurrent with the Kentuckiana Cluster of dog shows held at the KY Exposition Center in Louisville.

The Club also hosts AKC Pointing Breed Hunting Tests each Fall which permit our Weimaraner’s to show off their natural instincts as pointing dog.
